Samsung Loads Galaxy Watch With AI Health Features: Vitals, Heart Health Score, Cardio Load

The June rollout turns the watch into what Samsung calls an 'AI-powered everyday health companion' — benchmarking five overnight bio-signals against each user's personal baseline.

Samsung announced its next generation of Galaxy Watch AI health features on June 4, with the rollout beginning June 8. The update pushes the watch decisively toward continuous health interpretation rather than raw metric display.

The centerpiece is Vitals, which tracks five overnight bio-signals and benchmarks them against a user's personal baseline rather than population norms — the same design philosophy driving Oura's Health Radar and the broader wearables field. Alongside it: a Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, a Fitness Index, Hearing Health assessment, and an enhanced Antioxidant Index.

The features require Samsung Health version 7.0 or later on Android 10 and above — a reminder that the health-wearables race is now substantially a software and algorithms race layered on stable sensor hardware.

The competitive context is intense: Oura shipped its Ring 5 within days of Samsung's announcement, Dexcom is extending CGM wear times, and Apple's health ambitions loom over everything. For consumers, baseline-relative health interpretation is rapidly becoming the default. For clinicians, the open question remains what to do when these consumer signals start arriving in the exam room — a question the FDA's TEMPO pilot and CMS's new coding pathways are only beginning to answer.
